BEST LANDSCAPE DESIGN—NEIGHBORHOOD
Since acquiring the land in 2013, the builder has carefully nurtured and expanded
one of The Oaks Farms’ most precious resources. its plant life. In a make shift
nursery, hundreds of seedlings, succulents and prized rosebushes grew full and
shapely until they were re-planted on the property. Meticulous planning saved
100-year-old heritage oaks where 75 custom lanterns hang, replacing standard
street lighting.
Choosing not to trap, the builder enlisted bio-retention swale walls to define the
footpath. Olives, cypress, sycamores, and mature hedges make one believe the
neighborhood is well established. The scent of lavender and citrus fill the air.
White roses and native shrubs populate the landscape while remaining true to
a green, white, and gray palette. A poured in place fountain is reminiscent of a
farm’s watering trough and old barn wood was used to build planters.
